Pastor Betty B. Hanna
Senior Pastor
Pastor Betty B Hanna was born at Love Hill, Central Andros, Bahamas. She is the ninth child of Rev. George Livingston and Leader Doraline Hanna (both deceased). She received her education at Calabash Bay Primary School, Fresh Creek All Age School, the College of the Bahamas and the University of the West Indies.
For 31 years, Rev. Hanna was employed by the Ministry of Education as a Mathematics teacher. She served on the islands of Andros, Eleuthera and New Providence.
She gave her life to the Lord on October 26, 1974. At the time, Rev. Hanna was a member of Mt. Ethel Baptist Church in Love Hill, Andros. Rev. Jeremiah Hinsey (deceased) was the pastor and her father, the late Rev. George Hanna, served as assistant Pastor. She was christened and baptized in this church.
Rev. Hanna soon displayed leadership qualities within her Ministry and filled various positions in the church. She was also the leader of a prayer band known as the “wilderness prayer group”.
Since leaving the island of Andros, Rev. Hanna has continued to work tirelessly in various churches. Over the years, she has held positions such as; Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Director, Youth Director, Evangelism President, Prayer Band Leader, Church Administrator and Children’s Ministry Coordinator.
In 1984, she was called to the ministry of evangelism. Rev. Hanna traveled to many family islands preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. She also traveled with the “Good News” to Jamaica and the United States.
In the year 2000, she answered the call of God to retire from teaching and began working full time in the gospel ministry.
In December 2004, Rev. Hanna was commissioned by God to establish the New Beginning Jubilee Baptist Church. Our first service was held on Sunday, February 13, 2005. She serves as Senior Pastor of this ministry.
Rev. Hanna is a member of the Executive Board of the Bahamas Baptist Association, 2nd Vice President of the Women’s Department, and Recording Secretary of the Bahamas Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention.
Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Her favorite song is “The Lord is my Light and my Salvation.”
